Program Description

Embark on a two-day journey through some of Sri Lanka's most remarkable cultural and historical treasures. From UNESCO World Heritage Sites and ancient royal capitals to fragrant spice gardens and sacred Buddhist temples, this tour offers an unforgettable insight into the island's rich heritage.

On Day 1, after hotel pick-up and a breakfast stop, you'll visit the spectacular Dambulla Cave Temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla. This UNESCO World Heritage Site consists of five caves carved into a massive granite rock, beautifully decorated with Buddhist murals and home to more than 150 statues of Buddha. It is considered the best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka.

After lunch, continue to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, one of the island's former royal capitals. Explore its remarkably preserved archaeological sites, including the impressive Gal Vihara with its magnificent rock-carved Buddha statues and the remains of the Royal Palace complex. Overnight accommodation is provided in a 3-star hotel.

On Day 2, visit the Matale Spice Garden, where you'll discover Sri Lanka's rich spice heritage. Learn about cinnamon, cardamom, pepper, nutmeg, cloves and other aromatic spices, while hearing about their traditional cultivation methods and culinary and medicinal uses.

The tour then continues to Kandy, the cultural capital of Sri Lanka. Visit the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic, one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites in the world. You'll also admire the city's scenic setting among lush hills, the peaceful Kandy Lake, and its charming colonial architecture.

After a lunch break, return to your hotel.
