Program Description

Discover the Netherlands as you've seen it on postcards - with its iconic windmills, wooden houses, traditional clogs and local cheeses. On this trip from Amsterdam, you'll leave the bustling city behind and explore charming villages where you can experience a more traditional side of Dutch life.

One of the highlights of the trip is Zaanse Schans, famous for its historic windmills and traditional Dutch architecture. As you stroll through the area, you'll admire a landscape that has long been associated with the Netherlands, while learning about local traditions and craftsmanship.

During the trip, you'll also discover how traditional Dutch wooden clogs are made. You'll learn about the Dutch cheese-making process and have the chance to sample different varieties during a cheese tasting.

The itinerary also includes Edam, Marken and Volendam. Edam is known for its cheese-making traditions, while Marken has preserved the character of a traditional fishing village. From here, you'll take a boat trip to Volendam, enjoying views of the Dutch countryside from the water. In Volendam, you'll find colourful wooden houses and a harbour filled with fishing boats, reflecting the village's long maritime heritage.

This full-day trip gives you the opportunity to experience some of the most distinctive aspects of Dutch culture in a single day - from windmills and cheese to traditional craftsmanship and picturesque villages.
