Program Description
Kuranda Scenic Railway is one of Australia’s most scenic train journeys. For more than 100 years, the railway has travelled through the World Heritage-listed rainforest of Barron Gorge National Park, leading to the picturesque mountain village of Kuranda.
Your journey starts at Cairns or Freshwater Station and follows a 33-kilometre route through lush valleys, across bridges and past dramatic ravines. Along the way, enjoy views of tropical rainforest and impressive waterfalls, making the journey itself one of the highlights of the region.
Depending on the option selected, you can book a one-way or roundtrip journey. Gold Class includes drinks, locally sourced appetisers and the service of a dedicated host during your train journey.
Important information
- Gold Class is available only for the 09:30 departure and 15:30 return.
- Heritage Class return journeys are available at 14:00 or 15:30.
- If you select a return ticket, the exact return time will be confirmed by the supplier after booking.
- Heritage Class includes seating in heritage carriages, water coolers at the end of each carriage and a souvenir trip guide.
- Gold Class includes individual lounge-style seating, a dedicated host, refreshments, appetisers and a gift pack.
- After booking, you will receive a redemption voucher from the operator within 24 hours.
- Show your redemption voucher at the Cairns Station ticket window to collect your physical ticket.
