DAY 1: Pickup from the hotel. Breakfast break and drive to the Dambulla cave temple. Also known as the Golden Temple of Dambull, this remarkable complex listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, consists of five caves carved into massive granite outcrop, featuring exquisite Buddhist murals and over 150 statues of Buddha in various poses. It is considered Sri Lanka’s best-preserved Buddhist site. Lunch break. Next stop is the Polonnaruwa – an ancient city known for its well-preserved ruins and rich history. It features remarkable archeological sites, including the Gal Vihara, which showcases stunning rock-caved Buddha statues, and the Royal Palace complex with its impressive architecture. Then overnight stay at a hotel (3*).
DAY 2: Transfer to the Matale Spice Garden – a captivating destination immersed in the islands rich spice heritage. This lush garden showcases a diverse array of spices, including cinnamon, cardamon, pepper, nutmeg and cloves. The knowledgeable staff of the garden often share fascinating stories about the traditional methods of spice production and the health benefits associated with various spices. Then transfer to Kandy – the cultural capital of Sri Lanka. It is a charming city nestled in the central hills renowned for the Temple of the Tooth Relic that houses a sacred relic of Buddha. The city is surrounded by scenic landscapes, including the tranquil Kandy Lake, vibrant markets and colonial-era architecture. Lunch break and return to the hotel.
