Costa Rica`s rugged mountains and abundant rainfall have created a country that is literally overflowing with rivers.
The rafting highlight of Costa Rica is the Pacuare River, which is rated one of the top rivers in the world. The Pacuare River starts near the town of Turrialba and flows north into the Caribbean. Over the course of 29 km (18 miles) it passes through exciting rapids (Class III-IV) and some of the most beautiful river scenery in Costa Rica.
Departure from hotels in San Jose early in the morning and transfer to the whitewater rafting operations center, where you’ll enjoy a traditional Costa Rican breakfast. After breakfast and changing into rafting gear, we will drive to the rafting put-in on the banks of the Pacuare River.
Here, certified rafting guides will outfit you with all necessary equipment, give you a comprehensive rafting safety talk, and instruct you on paddling basics. Then, you and your group will launch your raft and begin to paddle deep into the heart of one of Costa Rica’s most impressive primary rainforests.
At the end of your rafting trip, you’ll return to whitewater rafting operations center for a delicious hot lunch, and time to shower and change clothes. Then you’ll return by bus to San Jose, enjoying beautiful views along the way.
