Program Description

Discover Albania through local flavours and centuries of history during this half-day excursion to Durres. You will enjoy a tasting of famous Albanian brandy, explore one of the country’s oldest cities and visit places that have witnessed the development of Adriatic port life for thousands of years.

The first stop of the tour will be one of the largest brandy distilleries in Albania - “Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu”, operating continuously since 1933. This is where the famous Skënderbeu brandy is produced, considered one of Albania’s best-known local spirits. During the visit, you will learn about the production process and take part in a tasting session. There will also be time to purchase local products and souvenirs.

Next, you will head to the centre of Durres - a city with more than 3,000 years of history that has long been an important port and meeting point of different cultures. During the guided walk, you will discover the city’s most important landmarks and learn interesting facts about its rich past.

You will also visit the impressive Roman amphitheatre dating back to the 2nd century AD, once capable of holding up to 20,000 spectators and considered one of the largest amphitheatres in the Balkans. Afterwards, you will stroll along the representative Bulevardi Epidamn to Freedom Square, home to Xhamia e Madhe, the Great Mosque.

In the evening, you will return to your hotel after a half-day excursion filled with history, local flavours and Albanian atmosphere.

Please note that the order of visits and the programme may be subject to change.
